Artist’s anniversary
75th birth anniversary of the so far unknown artist
Friends and acquaintances gathered at the exhibition hall of the Moscow Artists’ Union on Kuznetsky most St. to mark the 75th birth anniversary of the remarkable artist Anatoly Gitberg.
A hall of flowers of amazing colours and powerful style opens the exhibition. Anatoly painted that series already in the hospital and finished it shortly before his death. God bless his memory.
A part of his works dating from different periods and done in different media, including paintings, large-size pencil drawings, engravings, gouaches and temperas, collected, preserved and exhibited by his wife Emilya, are on show.
His quests for form, plastic solutions and imagery impact produce a stunning impression.
At a posthumous exhibition nineteen years ago, the artist Boris Talberg said about Anatoly Gitberg’s drawings, “Gitberg’s graphic works are still waiting for their researcher”. I can add that this applies to more than just his graphic works. Anatoly Gitberg’s world is original, enigmatic and profound. And of course, we would like to see and enjoy all his works.
