Anatoly Davidovich Gitberg
Born 31 May 1926 in Dnepropetrovsk.
Died 18 April 1983 in Moscow.
Father: David Isaakovich Gitberg, construction engineer.
Mother: Sofia Yakovlevna Gitberg (née Gleiberman), microbiologist.
Member of the Moscow branch of the USSR Union of Artists.
Member of the USSR Union of Journalists.
Engaged in decorative and applied arts and easel painting, did large-size and applied graphic works.
Did exhibition and interior design.
Produced decorative sculptural compositions using diverse materials, including glass, wood, metal and concrete, usually combined with space and lighting solutions, for exhibitions and interior design, as well as panels and posters for exhibitions, the circus, theatre and cinema.
1946–1950 studied urban construction at the Moscow City Executive Committee Institute of Construction Engineering, majored as “engineer-architect”.
1950–1959 worked as a foreman at the Moscow State Housing Construction trust (Moszhilgosstroy), Moscow Housing Construction Department, sports festival decorator and sports and cinema poster designer.
1959–1983 worked as a staff artist/architect at the Integrated Decorative Design Concern, the USSR Art Fund (Moscow branch).
1962–1973 produced decorative design solutions for exhibition facility expositions at the All-Union National Economic Achievements Exhibition (VDNKh), Sokolniki Exhibition Complex, Luzhniki Sports Palace and the Manege Central Exhibition Hall of Moscow.
1974–1983 devised and implemented decorative design solutions for public building interiors, including the Orel Palace of Culture, a tourist centre, restaurants, cafés and theatres.
1978 as a member of a team of artists supervised by Ya.A. Livshitz nominated for the USSR State Prize in Literature, Art and Architecture of the USSR Council of Ministers for the artistic solution of the interiors of the Palace of Culture, the 50th Anniversary of the October Revolution Steel-Rolling Mill of Orel.
