Anatoly Gitberg. Interview 1983
A small part of my works is exhibited here. To go by them, it is not easy to get a clear idea of me as an artist.
Briefly about myself: my interests in fine arts are diverse. I like experimenting with space solutions and space transformation. I design exhibitions and interiors.
I am tempted to work on plastic problems, decorative sculptural compositions of various materials, such as glass, wood, metal and concrete (as a rule, in conjunction with space and light solutions at expositions and in interiors), and problems of applied graphics and monumental painting, doing exhibition and theatre posters and panels. All of the above is based on painting, large-size graphics and drawing.
I never stop drawing and painting. I need it like air.
Where does everything I do come from? I try to be sincere in every work I do. It is important to me to maintain my inner freedom. I try to act in harmony with my nature and my life concept. As I value above all frankness, life truth, spontaneity and subjective perception in art, these are precisely the qualities I pay much attention to in my work. My spontaneous temperament forms my work method. As a rule, I avoid any rigid programme and arrive at what can be considered the finishing line through a many-layered search of solutions to the global problem.
